The Rajbari Bawali

Kolkata

বিস্তারিত · Description

The Rajbari Bawali, built 250–300 years ago by the historic Mondal zamindar family, was once a symbol of Bengal’s aristocratic heritage. After decades of neglect following the decline of the zamindari system, the estate fell into ruin.

In 2008, entrepreneur and heritage conservationist Ajay Rawla discovered the abandoned property and undertook its restoration. Through years of meticulous work, traditional craftsmanship, and careful preservation of original architecture and antiques, he revived the Rajbari while retaining its historic character.

Today, The Rajbari Bawali stands as one of India’s finest heritage restoration projects—a living celebration of Bengal’s history, culture, and architectural legacy.
