Aranya Jungle Resort

𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 — 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻. We arrived today at 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁 after a short (just over an hour) Air India Express flight followed by a relaxed 90-minute drive through the ever-picturesque Dooars landscape, even crossing Gajoldoba along the way.

That drive itself always feels like the mind gradually shifting from city rhythm to nature’s pace. It has been about 7–8 years since my last stay here, and the change is noticeable.

What was once more of a quiet village has gently grown into a small town, yet thankfully without losing its charm. The resort itself has evolved beautifully — greener, more refined, and thoughtfully upgraded while still keeping its essential jungle character intact.

Aranya 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁 sits right at the edge of Gorumara, wrapped in trees and greenery. The wooden architecture blends wonderfully with the surroundings, and the rooms are huge, tastefully and smartly appointed, with very swanky bathrooms and all modern amenities — including excellent high-speed Wi-Fi.

Yet despite the comfort, you still feel wonderfully close to nature, which is exactly what one hopes for in a place like this. We will be spending the next ten days here.

I’m quietly hoping this environment nudges me back into some long-pending work — updating my 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝗱 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 and perhaps restarting a fresh round of writing about birds, habitats, and the many stories nature constantly offers. A special word of thanks to 𝗥𝗮𝗷𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗷𝗲𝗲, the gracious owner of this remarkable property, and to his excellent team for the very warm welcome extended to us today.
